Computing - Mathematics of Cryptography
Scholarship Description
A Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) is available in the Department of Computing for a PhD. It is well known that Mathematics, and especially Number Theory, besides its intrinsic beauty, provides many powerful tools for modern Cryptography and thus for smart and efficient information handling. The aim of the project is to formulate and solve new and important mathematical problems, which lie in the background of modern cryptography. Possible specific directions of research include problem in elliptic curve cryptography, in lattice based cryptography, in pseudorandom number generation and many others. Applicants must have experience in some major software packages like Magma, Maple, Pari, NTL, and quote 2010096 on their application form. Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD22500 (per annum). This award is to be used for research, living expenses, fees and miscellaneous purposes. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 and a half years.

Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent.
